Dole exploring sale, could go for $2 billion

Dole Food is exploring a sale, according to the Wall Street Journal. Based on comparable companies, WSJ suggested that Dole could be worth $2 billion.

In an email to The Produce News, William Goldfield, director of corporate communications at Dole, said the company had no comment to offer regarding the potential sale.

Citing people familiar with the matter, WSJ said the first round of bids for the company were due last week. The article said private-equity firms are among those that have expressed interest in Dole Food.

At the end of April Dole filed a statement with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission relating to a proposed initial public offering of shares of its common stock. At the time the number of shares to be offered and the price range for the proposed offering and the stock exchange on which Dole will apply to list its common stock had not yet been determined.
