Organic fast food pioneers to speak at Organic Produce Summit

Co-founders of The Organic Coup, America’s first USDA-certified organic fast food, have been announced as keynote presenters at the 2017 Organic Produce Summit in Monterey, CA. The pair will be one of four featured presentations at the second annual Organic Produce Summit, the only event dedicated exclusively to producers and buying organizations of organic fresh produce.psos

Erica Welton, a former food buyer for Costco, and former Costco executive Dennis Hoover will share their passion for organics and creating The Organic Coup in an engaging and inspiring talk. The Organic Coup currently has nine locations in California’s San Francisco Bay area, with plans to open more throughout 2017, including AT&T Park, home of Major League Baseball's San Francisco Giants.

“It’s a tremendous opportunity to share our story with those responsible for producing and marketing organic fresh produce," Welton said in a press release. “The future of food come from people with deep courage, powerful voices and unwavering vision who want to make a positive impact. It’s rewarding to connect with others who share our mission and we look forward to being a part of OPS 2017.”

To date three of the four keynote presentations for OPS 2017 have been finalized. In addition to a presentation from The Organic Coup, the first keynote presentation will be by consumer research agency Nielsen, offering a dive into current organic sales as well as an outlook on upcoming organic trends and opportunities. It will be followed by a Retailer Roundtable spearheaded by three of the nation’s largest and most progressive retailers discussing the challenges and opportunities for organic produce in today’s retail environment. A fourth keynote presentation will announced in the near future.

“We are thrilled to have Erica and Dennis share their thoughts on organic food and creating the nation’s first USDA-certified organic fast food. The Organic Coup is at the forefront of revolutionizing fast food as we know it and something our attendees won’t want to miss learning about,” Susan Canales, director of operations of the Organic Produce Summit, said in the release.

OPS 2017 will be held at the newly renovated Monterey Conference Center, in Monterey, CA, on July 12-13. Complimentary registration for retailers and buying organizations is now open, with general registration scheduled to open Feb. 6. More information is available at www.organicproducesummit.com.
