W.P. Produce continues to build produce manifest

W.P. Produce Corp. continues to build its manifest to provide customers with top fresh quality tropicals and roots.

“New items for us this year are horned melons, premium green house habanero peppers and premium Thai Peppers from Dominican Republic,” said Vice President Desiree Morales.WP-Produce-tropicals-for-florida

The company, founded by Morales and her father, Chief Executive Officer Willy Pardo, has been moving a full line of fresh commodities from its operations in Miami since 1984.

“We handle malanga, yucca, ñame, boniato, avocados, papaya, mangos, peppers and ginger from various countries and have recently added a full oriental line from Honduras,” Morales said. Additionally, W.P. Produce works with Florida growers to source boniato, Florida avocados, guava and mamey.

Import restrictions imposed on a number of items from the Dominican Republic were lifted in January, just in time for the company’s peak avocado season.

“We expect to go through April with our greenskin imports,” she told The Produce News. “Quality has been very good. However, there is limited supply this year.”

W.P. Produce’s Haitian mango program will ramp up in mid-April and continue into mid-July, Morales said.

Tropicals and fruits continue to be marketed under the company’s DESBRY brand.
