BOO! I Love Produce’s OctCLOVErfrest spooktacular

I Love Produce is being recognized for 15 years of exhibiting at the PMA Fresh Summit.

At this year’s event, Oct. 18-20 in Orlando, FL, the company will exhibit at booth No. 2008, and its booth is sure to bring fun surprises and smiles to all who visit.ILOVEPRO1Garlic18

Jim Provost, co-owner of the Kelton, PA-based company, said he will be joined at Fresh Summit by Neil Millman, co-owner; Eric Frasse, vice president of sales development; Isha Ghetia, sales coordinator; and Honorio Aguilar and David Kim, both sales representatives.

“We are excited to announce the launch of our Halloween promotion called ‘OctCLOVErfest,’” said Provost. “We are promoting garlic for Halloween — not only for its natural abilities to ward off evil spirits and vampires — but also to use in activities much like eggs are used for Easter decorations. Garlic, with its white skin, is perfect for painting, dying and decorating, and it makes for a very scary scavenger hunt when the decorated bulbs are hidden.”

Moxxy Marketing assisted I Love Produce in its OctCLOVErfest promotion, which is being unveiled for the first time at Fresh Summit.

Provost said that for Easter Americans buy 180 million eggs — or 15 million 12-piece cartons — each year just for dying and decorating.

“With Halloween now being the second largest commercial holiday in the U.S., following behind only Christmas, there is great potential for retailers to increase their garlic sales in coordination with our promotion,” said Provost.

“I Love Produce is marketing a 10-bulb box that is all decked-out for Halloween distinctly for this purpose,” he continued. “We are using the biggest white garlic bulbs from Spain that are easy to decorate. Also, like Easter eggs, retailers can present the decorated bulbs to consumers, who can also flavor their fun foods for Halloween.”

In what Provost referred to as a “Transylvania-Twist,” I Love Produce will have Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, helping promote OctCLOVErfest in stores and on social media.

“Elvira is the Queen of Halloween and a cultural icon,” noted Provost. “Cassandra Peterson has been portraying Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, since the 1970s, and I remembered seeing her on television when she introduced horror movies. We at I Love Produce believe she will be a great representative for our company and the OctCLOVErfest promotion, of which Cassandra is a huge fan. She is also a vegetarian, so partnering with I Love Produce with a Halloween-themed promotion was a no brainer for her.”

He added that this “spooktacular” month-long promotion features Elvira’s image and garlic decoration inspiration on in-store posters, stand-up displays, photo displays, shelf-talkers, in-store radio spots and take-home activity fliers promoting its “monster garlic” to consumers.

“Elvira will also be promoting the process of decorating our garlic on our social media network,” noted Provost.

At Fresh Summit, I Love Produce will display Halloween decorated garlic bulbs, packaging and a life-size Elvira stand-up at its booth and in the 4 Kids Showcase.
