Albertsons LLC, based in Boise, ID, has named Jerry Callahan vice president of produce merchandising. He will be responsible for continuing to grow sales and profits through fostering innovation in the category and assisting the divisions in providing the best-in-fresh quality produce and programs, the company announced in a Feb. 26 press release.

"Over the last six years, Jerry's contributions to our in-store produce programs have helped Albertsons LLC to set the bar for what best-in-fresh quality means, both for the industry and for our customers," Bob Butler, executive vice president of operations, said in the press release. "His years of experience combined with his expertise in identifying new consumer trends and quickly implementing in-store programs, will be an invaluable asset as we continue developing our produce programs."

Mr. Callahan has been with Albertsons his entire career. He started as an assistant produce clerk in Seattle in 1982, and he was a produce sales manager in four divisions before joining the corporate office team in Boise in November 2004. Prior to joining Albertsons LLC in 2006 as produce sales manager for the Southwest Division, he was the produce category manager for Albertsons Inc.
