Mastronardi using social channels to talk flavor

With the Produce Marketing Association Fresh Summit convention just weeks away, Mastronardi Produce, based in Kingsville, ON, released a three-minute video via its Facebook page and YouTube channel talking about what flavor means to its staff.

"We came up with the idea over the summer to help our customers and consumers understand what flavor means to our staff each and every day," Chris Veillon, director of marketing, said in a press release.

Mastronardi built the first commercial greenhouses in North America in the 1940s and has grown to be one of the largest greenhouse grower-marketers in the world.

"All the key departments in our company were involved in the video, and even our chairman, Don Mastronardi, made a cameo appearance. Mr. Mastronardi talked about what flavor meant to his father years ago and that the business grew out of his dad's passion for great food," Mr. Veillon added in the press release.

As PMA approaches, Mastronardi's Twitter profile (@sunsetgrown) will be ramping up in talking about what #Flavor means to gourmet greenhouse produce.

Mastronardi has recently partnered with Dallas-based DMA Solutions to create social content leading up to and during the PMA in Anaheim. Mastronardi will be exhibiting at the upcoming PMA Fresh Summit in Anaheim at booth No. 1248, while Mastronardi Fresh, its foodservice division, will be at booth No. 2733.
