Shaw’s and Star Market announced that all 155 of their stores throughout New England will be collecting donations from customers to benefit The One Fund in honor of the organization’s one-year anniversary of providing assistance to survivors whose lives were changed by the tragedy at the Boston Marathon in 2013.
During the campaign, which will take place April 11-25, customers will be invited to make a monetary contribution to The One Fund when they are checking out with their groceries and will be provided a promotional card to sign their name or write a special message to be displayed in the store. Shaw’s and Star Market will also match their customers’ donations to The One Fund Boston up to $100,000.
“On this important anniversary, I along with the 18,500 associates of Shaw’s and Star Market would like to show our support of those most affected by the events of the 2013 Boston Marathon and express our sincere thanks to the first responders who helped them. They all have showed us the true meaning of courage, compassion and strength,” Shaw’s President Jim Rice said in a press release. “As an organization that has been part of New England for more than 150 years, we are extremely proud to assist The One Fund in helping those who need it most.
