HAC Inc., an employee-owned supermarket chain based in Oklahoma, acquired 11 stores that were formally owned by Belle Foods. This will add four banners to the HAC group: Piggly Wiggly, Belle Foods, Food World and Southern Family Market. Ten of the stores are in Georgia, and the remaining location is in Alabama.
The stores, ranging in size from 20,000 to 45,000 square feet, began transitioning to the HAC group Oct. 1 and will continue over the first two weeks of October. Associated Wholesale Grocers will supply the 11 locations out of Nashville, TN.
“I personally am very excited and enthused about the potential of these stores,” Darryl Fitzgerald, the company’s chief executive officer, said in a press release. “The Georgia and Alabama stores are full of dedicated, long-term associates who only want to better serve their customers. We plan to fill these stores up and give this team the tools they need to better serve their customers.”
HAC Inc. currently operates under five banners, including Homeland, United Supermarkets, Country Mart, Super Save and Super Plaza. With the addition of the 11 stores, HAC will be operating 87 stores throughout Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Georgia and Alabama.
