RPE adds former Cañon Potato owner and salesman

RPE, a leading potato and onion grower-shipper based in Bancroft, WI, added two former members of Cañon Potato Co. to its sales team.

David Tonso comes to RPE after most recently serving as co-owner and acting chief executive officer of Cañon Potato Co., where he has been employed for almost 30 years. Cañon Potato Co. recently announced that it was closing its doors.

"My family has known the Wysocki family for a long time, and I know the integrity and honesty of their operation," Tonso said in a press release. "RPE has had so much growth and they're doing such dynamic things. It fits right into what I want to do and am looking for."

Tonso, who studied agricultural marketing at Colorado State University, served as member and chair of the potato section of the United Fresh Produce Association and as member and vice chairman of the Colorado Potato Administrative Committee.

Matt Glowczewski also comes from Cañon Potato Co., where he has spent the last 18 years in the sales department. Previously, he was employed by a wholesale company in Pueblo, CO, where he worked in every part of the operation over the course of 10 years.

"We are thrilled to have David and Matt joining us and bringing their enthusiasm for the potato industry to our Colorado office," Russell Wysocki, president and CEO of RPE, added in the press release. "Having knowledgeable and experienced employees is an important part of our commitment to our customers and category expertise."

Tonso and Glowczewski will be based in RPE's Colorado office.
