Dolbec modernizes facility, launches line of potato bags

Patates Dolbec, one of the larger producers and packers of potatoes in Eastern Canada with over 10,000 acres of land, has significantly invested in modernizing their packing center, including new bagging equipment.

Located in St. Ubalde, Québec, the family-owned business has launched a new line of packaging. A new, more attractive and functional line of bags has been designed to showcase and promote their potatoes to consumers.

The laminated bags have been designed to protect the potatoes from adverse effects of light while highlighting the best cooking methods for the variety. An artist rendering was created for each of the varieties sold and original recipes are also found on-pack. The attractive laminated bags feature easy grab handles and re-sealable closures. As part of the launch, Patates Dolbec has also added oven-ready foil-wrapped potatoes for its entire line of potatoes.

Thanks to modern warehouses, Patates Dolbec store more than 1,400 trailer loads of potatoes allowing them to supply customers year-round.

The company’s line of potatoes covers just about every color under the rainbow including rounds white, yellow-fleshed, reds, russets, and blues. Its line is offered in one and a half, two-, three- and five-pound offerings as well as 10, 15, 20 and 50 pounds.

“Our new packaging is more practical and attractive, making the potato the star,” said Josée Petitclerc, marketing director for Patates Dolbec. “We’ve been working on this project for over a year and really want to help promote the potato and help re-elevate it to its rightful place of honor.”
