Railex donates to Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools

Railex LLC has made a commitment to supply five salad bars to the United Fresh Foundation's Let’s move Salad Bars to Schools program.

The program has been a pioneer in demonstrating the effectiveness of salad bars in schools as a strategy for increasing children’s fruit and vegetable consumption.

“We are very proud to be able to participate in the school salad bar DSC 0279Steve Poindexter of Railex with Lori Helmuth and Susan Fagundes of the Armona Elementary School District, Congressman David Valadao of District 21, Jason Pollak and Paul Esposito of Railex.program, especially when it benefits children of our employees,“ Pat Bruno, senior vice president of sales and marketing, said in a press release.

The first salad bar donated by Railex will be presented by Congressman David Valadao to the Armona Union Elementary School District at a ceremony at the Railex Delano, CA, facility. Congressman Valadao is the District 21 representative, which is where both Railex and the Armona Union School District are located.

The Salad Bars to Schools program is playing a major role in improving the healthfulness of school meals creating healthier school environment and helping to incentivize schools to become HealthierUS Challenge Schools.

“A large part of our core business involves fruits and vegetables, and we welcome the opportunity to assist in growing consumption within the youth of America,“ Mr. Bruno said in the release. Railex will be announcing further donations in the coming months.
