Industry rolls together at FPFC Bocce Ball tourney

winnersLIVERMORE, CA — On Friday night, Aug. 9, about 80 Northern California produce professionals doubling as bocce ball amateurs got together here at the third annual Fresh Produce & Floral Council Bocce Ball Get Together.

Though about half the participants formed four-person teams and did battle it out in a single-elimination tournament, the FPFC calls it a "Get Together" because the emphasis is not on competition but rather camaraderie.

Prior to the very informal tournament, attendees mingled, ate a mountain of food and got a bocce ball lesson from the experts at Campo di Bocce, a bocce ball-themed restaurants in this vineyard-covered city about 50 miles southeast of San Francisco.
