Oxnard, CA-based Deardorff Family Farms hired LUKE PATRUNO to its team on March 13.
In his new position at Deardorff Family Farms, Mr. Patruno is leading a new organic business unit that focuses on sourcing, packing and distributing organic produce from the company’s headquarters in Oxnard, according to a company press release.
“Our organic department has grown exponentially and we now need to add experienced people to expand our seasonality, augment the variety and pack styles, and boost overall volume,” company President Tom Deardorff II said in the release. “We will continue to increase the items we grow, pack and ship — and now, with Luke, will also be able to offer innovative packaging and value-added items from our new facility in Oxnard.”
Mr. Patruno grew up in the produce industry, as his father was a wholesaler-distributor for Century Fruit & Produce in Los Angeles. Mr. Patruno began following in his father’s footsteps in 1980 by joining the produce wholesale business and later moving into organics.
“Luke doesn’t just work in organics, he passionately lives and breathes it. In that regard, he is much like the rest of us at Deardorff,” Mr. Deardorff added.
