The New York Apple Association, based in Fishers, NY, announced MOLLY GOLDEN as its director of marketing on April 11.

Ms. Golden will be responsible for the design and execution of all trade merchandising and promotional activities for the market, working closely with retail partners, growers and industry Untitled-1Molly Golden shippers, according to a company press release.

“We are very excited to have Molly join our marketing team,” Jim Allen, president of NYAA, said in the press release. “She certainly brings a wealth of sales and marketing experience to New York Apple Association. I am excited to be able to introduce her to the trade at the upcoming New England Produce & Floral Expo in Boston.”

Prior to starting her new position at NYAA, Ms. Golden worked for PepsiCo as a sales leader in the retail and foodservice sides of the business for seven years.

Ms. Golden grew up in the region and currently resides in Plattsburgh, NY.

 

Junction City, OR-based Or-Cal Inc., a manufacturer of consumer and industrial agricultural products, announced STEVE GLENNON as its national sales manager on April 12.

Mr. Glennon is a 33-year veteran of the ag chem industry, first beginning his career in Untitled-1Steve Glennon 1979 at Elanco Products Co. Mr. Glennon spent 16 years working for the Griffin Corp., starting as a sales representative and eventually becoming the North American sales director, and four years as vice president of sales for Pace International LLC before launching Glennon Enterprises in 2002. Or-Cal Inc. has been part of Glennon Enterprise’s portfolio for the past decade, according to a company press release.

In his new position as national sales manager, Mr. Glennon will be responsible for helping to lead Or-Cal’s efforts with its line of products, including Slug and snail baits, rodenticides, fungicides, calcium carbonate sunscreens, as well as apple blossom thinning agents.

“Steve has been intimately involved with numerous ag chem projects over the past 30 years and will help us push forward our new initiatives for the coming year,” co-owner Steve Horn said in the press release.

Mr. Horn’s business partner, George Baker, added “It’s not every day that you find someone with the respect, experience and excitement for the industry that Steve Glennon brings to Or-Cal.”

 

Santa Maria, CA-based Bonipak Produce Inc. announced DANA GIACONE as its new national accounts/business development manager on April 11.

In her new position, Ms. Giacone will be responsible for expanding the family-owned company’s customer base and seeking out new business development opportunities.

“Dana’s talents and determination will be a perfect addition to our team as we continue to meet our strategic direction,” Don Klusendor, Bonipak’s director of sales and marketing, said in a company press release.

Ms. Giacone first got her start in the produce industry with the California Table Grape Commission and spent 10 years at Salinas, CA-based River Ranch Fresh Foods LLC, where she worked with retailers, wholesalers, processors and foodservice distributors. Before joining Bonipak, Ms. Giacone served two years as the manager of West Coast Operations at Southern Specialties in California.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with customers in building programs and developing the business,” she said. “I am from the area and have been watching Bonipak’s growth and expansion throughout my career. I am excited to be a part of their future.”

Salinas, CA-based Growers Express recently promoted CHUCK MANFRE to sales manager.

In his new position, Mr. Manfre will be responsible for managing the daily activities of the sales office with his primary goal being to provide the best customer service possible with attention to efficiencies and cost controls, according to an April 5 company press release.

“Chuck has been in the business for 33 years and has the experience and knowledge to excel in his new well-deserved position,” Grower Express President Gary Andreasian said in the release. “Chuck has demonstrated the ability to work well with others and has earned the respect of all department managers.”

Mr. Manfre is a 33-year veteran of the produce industry, first getting his start with Capurro Farms and then joining the Growers Express family in 2008 when the two companies merged.

“This is a very progressive company with a lot of good people making things happen,” Mr. Manfre said. “I very much enjoy the people I work with and for and welcome this opportunity.”

Orlando, FL-based Aladdin Farms hired TONY MENDEZ as a sales agent and broker in mid-March.

Prior to joining the team at Aladdin Farms, Mr. Mendez worked for IMG Citrus in Vero Beach, FL.

Mr. Mendez will be handling a full line of commodities for the company, and said that so far, he is enjoying his new job in the produce industry. “It’s been good to me,” he said. “I love talking to people. You’ve got to be a people person to do this.”

In his spare time, Mr. Mendez enjoys reading and bike riding.
