Pure Hot House Foods Inc. recently hired 10-year greenhouse veteran MARINA DAVIDSON as the director of procurement for the company, effective Jan. 16.
She started her career at Cris-P Sales in Nogales, AZ, and also worked for Mastronardi Produce based out of Romulus, MI. Her most recent role was as sales manager at Interoceanica, one of the larger box suppliers based out of Celaya, Mexico.
Jamie Moracci, president of Pure Hot House Foods Inc. stated in a press release, “We are very pleased and excited to have Marina join the Pure Flavor team. Her vast experience with developing grower networks in multiple countries, solid communication and understanding of the market, and her outstanding reputation to create fair and equal partnerships in this industry are second to none.”

DMA Solutions Inc. announced Jan. 19 the addition of two new marketers to the company’s team.
KELLY PRITCHETT has an agricultural background and began working for DMA Solutions as an in intern in January of 2010.
Prior to interning with DMA Solutions, Ms. Pritchett was a Career Pathways Pack Family Student Scholarship recipient and attended the 2009 PMA Fresh Summit in Anaheim, CA. She was also an active leader in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M University, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness and a master’s degree in agricultural communications.
MACKENZIE MICHEL is a recent graduate of the University of North Texas with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and public relations.
Prior to joining DMA, Ms. Michel held several marketing-related internships where she gained valuable experience in the execution of social media marketing and networking, internal company communications, media relations, news writing and reporting, web site design and maintenance, web and ad copy writing, radio and broadcast copy writing, advertising campaign design and brand development.
“I started my career in the fresh produce industry right out of college and am elated to bring Kelly and Mackenzie into the DMA Solutions family as they enter the work force,” said Dan’l Mackey Almy, president and founder of DMA Solutions.
T.J. SALINAS is the new Southern California field representative for Index Fresh and will serve avocado growers in Riverside and San Diego counties.
"T.J. brings his valuable experience of a life spent in agriculture to the Index Fresh position. His hands-on experience gives him a unique understanding of growers and their specialized needs within the industry," said Giovanni Cavaletto, Index Fresh vice president of operations.
Mr. Salinas grew up in agriculture, living in Fallbrook and Anza, CA, where he garnered daily experience at his father’s horse ranch. His love for farming has always been an important part of his life. Throughout his school years, he was active in 4H and Future Farmers of America. After earning his bachelor’s degree from Cal State-San Marcos in 2009, he worked for the fertilizer industry, which makes him a valuable resource for farmers.
When recently asked about his appointment to the position of field representative, he commented, “In order for Index to succeed, growers must succeed. I look forward to addressing growers’ need for information in the continually changing agriculture industry, and I am looking forward to the challenges of serving them on behalf of Index Fresh.”
Produce consultancy FreshXperts announced Jan. 18 that GEORGE SEIFERT, founder and president of Produce QA Consultants LLC, is the new quality assurance expert for the group.
Mr. Seifert, who has more than 26 years of experience in produce quality inspection, will provide services to Fresh-Xperts’ retail, wholesale-distributor, and foodservice clients in the areas of produce inspection, food safety, logistics and produce ripening. Mr. Seifert is a specialist in banana ripening, with additional experience ripening pears, avocados, mangos and papayas.
“George understands produce inspection like few in the industry,” said Tim Vaux, membership chairman for Fresh-Xperts. “He will teach our clients proper inspection techniques and advise them on issues, such as damage control, food safety and traceability, and cooler stock inspection and organization, helping to ensure that their produce is not only delicious and visually appealing, but fresh and safe to eat.”
Prior to launching Produce QA Consultants, Mr. Seifert spent 20 years at Rochester, NY-based Wegmans Food Markets, where he developed and implemented the company’s first comprehensive produce quality-assurance program, which helped establish Wegmans as one of the country’s top produce retailers. He has also worked in produce inspection for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets and the South Carolina Department of Agriculture.
