The Giumarra Cos., based in Los Angeles, announced the addition of JEANNINE MARTIN and BOB FAULKNER to its Giumarra Reedley division.
Ms. Martin joined as director of sales for the division. She has worked in the produce industry since 1977 and most recently held a sales and account representative position with Fruit Patch Sales LLC. Her new responsibilities at Giumarra Reedley include managing the stone fruit sales team and key customer accounts.
Mr. Faulkner joined as a salesperson. Previously, he was director of sales at Double D Farms, a grower, packer and shipper of organic fruits and vegetables based
in Coalinga, CA. He has worked in the produce industry for 28 years and will be responsible for strengthening sales with existing stone fruit customers and developing relationships with new customers.
“The Reedley division is delighted with the new additions to its sales team,” John Thiesen, division manager of Giumarra Reedley, said in a March 28 press release announcing the new hires. “Jeannine brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the stone fruit industry to Giumarra. She is well respected in the produce industry and will be a real asset. Bob brings many years of experience and knowledge in the produce business and will not only be an asset as a stone fruit salesman but also for other divisions of Giumarra.”
The Oppenheimer Group announced that CHAYLA BALKO has joined the company’s Chicago office as a business development representative, serving retail, wholesale and foodservice clients in the Midwest.
Ms. Balko, who joined the full-service produce marketer and distributor March 21, is responsible for implementing effective promotions for Oppenheimer products in partnership with customers in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin. Most recently, she held a sales executive position with Glass Onion Gourmet/Wabash Seafood in Chicago, where she promoted a range of specialty food items to hotel and country club chefs.
Her other relevant background was gained during her experience with Boston Beer Co. in Boston. As a northwest Chicago-based account manager from January 2008 through February 2009, Ms. Balko set up retail promotions, displays and sampling events for the “Sam Adams” brand. Her strong sales performance earned her a nomination for the company’s rookie of the year honors in 2008.
“Eating healthy is really important to me,” Ms. Balko, an accomplished marathon runner, said in a press release. “I was ready to be involved in marketing something that is good for people, and certainly produce fits that bill. Oppenheimer’s nutritious product line most definitely appeals to me, and I am excited to be selling something I believe in.”
Ms. Balko is a 2007 graduate of the University of Arizona, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communications with a minor in psychology.
