Key Food Stores Co-operative Inc., a chain of independently owned and operated grocery stores, announced John Durante as the newest member of its executive team.
On April 14, Durante will take on the role of vice president of business development, where he will be responsible for member relations and acquiring, opening and on-boarding new stores in an effort to help Key Food achieve its vision of growth.
For the past nine years, Durante acted as vice president of sales of CBA Industries, a leading circular distribution company in the New York metropolitan area. His main focus was with major retail accounts and supermarkets; this allowed him to become familiar with Key Food and its membership.
Previously, Durante was publisher of Downtown Magazine Group, a company he co-founded in 2001. Under his guidance, Downtown Magazine Group grew to include 12 local monthly editions throughout New Jersey. Prior to that, he spent 1999-2001 as vice president of APS, a boutique media firm that specializes in advertising and marketing solutions for shopping centers. Durante’s career began at Wayne Today newspaper where he worked in advertising.
“John’s background and experience makes him a perfect fit for this role,” Dean Janeway, chief executive office, said in a press release. “I am looking forward to having him join our team.”
Currently, Durante resides in Morris County, NJ, with his wife, Ann; they have three daughters.
