Walter Klein retiring from Bozzuto's

Walter D. Klein, who is in produce sales at wholesale grocer Bozzuto's Inc., is retiring Jan. 3 after a long career.

Klein, 67, earned a bachelor of arts degree in 1969 from American International College in Springfield, MA, where he majored in psychology. He worked in the education field from 1969 to 1979, teaching sixth grade, but beginning in 1975, WalterKlein0314Walter D. Kleinhe went to work on a part-time basis for Feinberg & Co., a well-known wholesale produce company at the terminal market in Providence, RI.

Klein left teaching in 1979 and began working full time at Feinberg & Co., which was owned by his father-in-law, Eddie Feinberg. He remained there, learning all facets of the business, until 1993.

From 1993 until 2000, Klein worked at James Ferrera & Sons, a small wholesale grocer in Massachusetts. He joined Cheshire, CT-based Bozzuto's in March 2002.

"I enjoyed the staff, I enjoyed my customers," Klein told The Produce News. "The staff at Bozzuto's was extremely supportive. And my customer base -- I have a lot of fun talking on the phone with my customers. It's business, but they became part of my family."

Greg Veneziano, vice president of perishables at Bozzuto's, said of Klein, "He's definitely going to be missed by everyone here. He has a great rapport with customers. He's just a hard-working guy."

Bozzuto's is currently in the process of looking for a replacement for the retiring Klein. For additional information, those interested in the position may check the wholesale grocer's website:
