Máximo Rodriguez, owner of Atlantic Tropical Market in Hoboken, NJ, died Oct. 1, surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for and loved. He was 67.
Mr. Rodriguez owned Atlantic Tropical Market in Hoboken for more than 40 years. He had many longtime employees and clients, many of which became his closefriends.
Mr. Rodriguez was born in Zaza del Medio, Cuba, and came to the United States via Spain in 1963. He was a proud veteran, having spent time in the military and served in the Vietnam War.
Besides his best friend and wife of 43 years, Gilda, Mr. Rodriguez is survived by his children: Máximo and his wife Crissy of Hockessin, DE; Jesse and his wife Cynthia of Newark, DE; Alex and his wife Lauren of Fort Lee, NJ; and Rosie and her husband Sam Muñoz of Englewood; his grandchildren: Taylor, Jesse, Devon, Max, Grace, Logan, Victoria and Julien; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Maximiniano and Lina Rodriguez, whom he adored.
A viewing is being held honoring Mr. Rodriguez Friday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. at Morgado Funeral Home, 525 45th Street, Union City, NJ. Mass to follow on Oct. 5 at Holy Family Church, 530 35th Street, Union City, NJ.
