Market Fresh Produce hired Steve Ford as its director of business development. "I’m excited to have a person with Steve’s background to help in leading and building our business development team," Market Fresh's Mike Kemp said in a press release.
Mr. Ford's background includes over 10 years of successful sales and operations experience with Frito-Lay and most recently with Sara Lee, where he held the position of director of sales for the Walmart central business unit.
"Market Fresh Produce continues to grow nationally, through new retail and foodservice customers, but also through our five year strategic acquisition plan,” Steve Phipps, owner of Market Fresh, said in the release. "In order for us to sustain the growth we are experiencing, we are building a complete business development team, headed up by our industry veteran Mike Kemp.”
Mr. Phipps said that announcements of additional business development team members will follow within the next 30 days. “It’s an exciting and busy time around our office,” said Mr. Kemp.
According to the release, the addition of Mr. Ford will add strength to its already talented team of top flight professionals and allow Market Fresh to continue meeting client expectations — competitive pricing, on-time arrival and quality products that meet the color, cosmetic and flavor profile specifications customers demand.
Market Fresh offers full-line procurement and category management in tomatoes, potatoes, onions, sweet potatoes, peppers, avocadoes and kiwifruit through its national network of distribution centers and its vendor managed inventory program.
