FloralHolland sued over rates

FloralHolland is in Dutch with a group of irate flower and plant traders from The Netherlands. The group has filed a lawsuit against FloraHolland, according to the Dutch wholesale florist association VGB. Their demand is that the pending increase in the auction clock rates for 2014, which the flower auction set without the seemingly required agreement from its trader clients, be struck down.

The increase in rates is part of a coordination of auction tariffs, which FloraHolland has been intent on achieving. The trader group, however, charges many of them will face unreasonable cost increases of up to 250 percent as a result. They are supported in their criticism by trade association VGB — the Association of Wholesale Trade in Horticultural Products. They point to the auction rules, which state that if the VGB does not agree to the new tariffs, traders can sue.
