Highline Mushrooms, one of the larger Canadian mushroom growers, announced the launch of two new stuffed portabella mushrooms -- Rustic Mediterranean and Creamy Sun-Dried Tomato -- both of which are available to retailers in a 8.6-ounce (245-gram) pack.
Different from the conventional stuffed button mushrooms, these stuffed portabellas are incredibly versatile and can be used as an appetizer, side dish or entrée. "We really thought about the end consumer and what they wanted from a versatility standpoint. These products are great for entertaining but are primarily intended to be used as a substitute for a salad or baked potato in a meal," said Jane Rhyno, director of sales and marketing. "With the new year coming and the increased focus on healthy and nutritious diets, our stuffed portabellas offer a delicious way for consumers to satisfy these needs."
"These stuffed portabellas are the perfect quick-and-easy meal solution. Made with fresh, flavorful ingredients, they deliver on taste and nutrition," said Hsian Kim, corporate communications manager. "At roughly 70 calories per stuffed portabella, you can enjoy them without all the guilt. Plus, they provide nutrients such as selenium, iron and potassium."
The stuffed portabellas are packaged in a sleek, black till that is recyclable. The packaging was designed to keep each stuffed portabella separated to avoid unnecessary bruising or damage.
