Salinas, CA-based River Ranch Fresh Foods, a leading producer of fresh-cut salads and field-fresh commodity vegetables, was recognized at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit in Atlanta with a Best of Show Award in the 2011 Best New Product Launch category for its new Heritage Blend.
Judged by a team of industry professionals and presented by PMA President and Chief Executive Officer Bryan Silbermann, the PMA’s Best New Product Launch Award evaluates candidates based on the tradeshow execution of new product materials and innovation in generating awareness.
“The team at River Ranch is honored to receive this award on our new Heritage Blend line of products,” Kim St. George, director of marketing, said in an Oct. 20 press release. “We’ve been very focused on developing and perfecting this unique salad blend, and we’re pleased that the branding and messaging we conveyed at PMA was compelling to the show judges.”
Heritage Blend is a proprietary salad blend from River Ranch Fresh Foods, featuring a robust variety of petite red and green lettuce varieties. The global seed company Nunhems worked with River Ranch to develop the salad blend using varieties selected from European lettuce genetics.
Crisp and full in appearance while smooth and delicious in flavor, Heritage Blend offers more plate volume, three to four days more shelf life and two to three times more nutritional value than traditional Spring Mix.
For a distinctive family-dining experience, River Ranch recently has introduced the Heritage Blend Salad Kit, a pairing of the petite lettuces with crisp toasted almonds, tangy feta cheese crumbles, sweet sun-dried tomatoes and savory Italian dressing. Served as a standalone main course or a satisfying side dish, this hearty salad provides a premium flavor profile and unique eating experience for four to six people.
Now available for both retailers and foodservice operators, Heritage Blend is available in a five-ounce or one-pound clamshell or a one-pound foodservice pack. The Heritage Blend Salad Kit is available in a family-size 13-ounce bag.
