Beginning the first week of August, Seald Sweet will be importing citrus from Australia into the port of Long Beach, CA. This move adds further growth to the company’s well-established summer citrus programs.
“This is a great opportunity for Seald Sweet to expand our current product supply of premium citrus and to continue growing our summer citrus programs,” Dave Brocksmith, Seald Sweet’s category manager for Australian citrus, said in a press release. “We have a long history of receiving premium citrus on the East Coast from South Africa, Chile and Peru, and we can now expand our offerings to our customers on the West Coast.”
Seald Sweet’s Australian programs are primarily with a fresh citrus-growing operation whose principals have over 30 years of experience in Australian citrus exports and fresh fruit and vegetable production. Located in the Mildura region, the operation currently has over 3,700 acres of citrus production.
The first product arrivals are due to arrive around Aug. 3 and will continue into October.
Following last week’s announcement of the USDA ruling allowing Uruguayan citrus to be imported into the U.S., this news adds further expansion to the company’s year-round citrus programs.
