ALDI, a discount retail chain based in Batavia, IL, is in the initial stages of discussions to potentially locate a warehouse in Moreno Valley, CA, and is further developing its plans to expand to Southern California.
With more than 1,200 stores across two-thirds of the country, ALDI has grown without merger or acquisition. Over the last several years, ALDI has added an average of 80 new stores each year, which serve more than 25 million customers each month.
ALDI reduces overhead costs by employing smart business practices such as a smaller store footprint, open carton displays and encouragement of customers to bring their own shopping bags. In addition, new ALDI stores feature natural lighting and environmentally friendly building materials.
ALDI customers can expect to find more than 1,400 of the most frequently purchased grocery items, including fresh meats, fruits, vegetables and bakery products, under ALDI exclusive brands for prices up to 50 percent less than traditional supermarkets, according to a company press release, which added that the retailers conducts rigorous testing on all of its products to ensure its exclusive brands meet or exceed national brands on taste and quality.
