Christopher Ranch, a leading grower-packer of fresh garlic, was awarded a Superior rating in a recent PrimusGFS audit, and its HACCP plan received a 100-percent score.
The PrimusGFS audit is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative. It covers the supply chain from pre- to post-farm gate production in an integrated supply chain approach. The audit focuses on fresh or minimally processed food products from the agricultural sector that are designated for human consumption. The standards of the audit are based on industry best practice and sound science.
Christopher Ranch was an early adapter of food-safety practices and procedures. HACCP audits conducted by Primus Labs, as well as other audit companies, resulted in consistently high scores over the past 12 years.
According to a company press release, Christopher Ranch guarantees that all fresh packed, peeled, processed and roasted garlic products are manufactured in accordance with all current Good Manufacturing Practices of the FDA.
“At Christopher Ranch, food safety is of paramount importance, and we work continuously to improve and maintain high standards of quality and sanitation in our growing, processing and packing facilities,” Janette Codiga, vice president of food safety and compliance at Christopher Ranch, said in the press release. “We are committed to giving our customers the best -- and safest -- products possible by following strict guidelines to ensure “quality from the ground up.”
