Paul Bachman of Bachman’s Inc. in Minneapolis began a two-year term as chairman of the American Floral Endowment at the organization’s annual dinner Sept. 20 in Palm Beach, FL. He began working in the family business when he was 13, received the Society of American Florists Marketer of the Year Award in 2011 and is a former chairman of the American Floral Marketing Council and the National PromoFlor Marketing Council.

Ken Altman of Altman Plants in Vista, CA, was named treasurer-secretary and Tom Butler of Teleflora in Los Angeles will remain on the board, serving as past chairman. Other executive committee members include Charles Kremp of Kremp Florist in Philadelphia; Dave Niklas of Clackamas Greenhouses in Aurora, OR; and Dwight Larimer of Design Master Color Tool Inc. in Boulder, CO.

Other board members are Jim Daly, vice president of Floralife Inc. global operations and corporate research in Walterboro, SC; Eric Levy, owner of Hillcrest Gardens Inc. in Needham, MA; and Ken Young, owner of Phoenix Flower Shops in Phoenix. Completing termswere Harrison (Red) Kennicott of Kennicott Bros. in Chicago; Jim Phillips of Phillips Flowers in Chicago; Lane DeVries, head of the Sun Valley Group in Arcata, CA; and Bob Wilkins of Delaware Valley Floral Group in Sewell, NJ.
