Megan McKenna will be promoted to director of marketing at the National Mango Board, based in Orlando, FL, effective Jan. 1, 2012.

Wendy McManus, the current director of marketing, will become a vendor to the board, responsible for managing the retail marketing and promotions program.

Ms. McKenna was hired by the board in April 2007 as a marketing specialist before being promoted to marketing manager in 2009. She also worked in the foodservice arena for the board, having managed its foodservice marketing and promotions program in 2008. Additionally, she participated in the International Foodservice Editorial Council and was elected first to that group's board of directors for 2010 and then to vice president for 2011.

Throughout her nearly five years in the mango industry, Ms. McKenna has worked closely with Ms. McManus in guiding the board's innovative consumer-marketing program, which continually stretched the organization's resources to implement an effective nationwide, year-round public relations and marketing effort.

"It has been a pleasure and an honor to work with Megan," Ms. McManus said in a press release. "Not only is she extremely bright and very knowledgeable about our industry, but she also has an intuitive ability to guide the [board's] marketing programs to even greater success in the future."

In her new role with the board, Ms. McManus will focus on elevating the profile of mangos at retail by developing effective training tools, eye-catching point-of-sale materials and customized retail promotions.

The board's team of retail account managers, which includes Cece Krumrine, Katie Manetti and Sheila Carden, will continue to work closely with Ms. McManus to deliver the board's messages to retailers and drive increased mango movement across the United States.

William Watson, executive director of the board, said in the press release, "I continue to be impressed by Megan's marketing prowess and her keen understanding of the complex issues that face this industry. By moving Wendy into the retail program manager role, the mango industry will continue to have a strategic thinker focused on taking our retail program to the next level. I firmly believe this shift will pay us gains for a very long time."

Ms. McManus and Ms. McKenna will continue to fill their current roles as director of marketing and marketing manager through the end of the year.
