Galaxy Nutritional Foods debuts dairy-free cream cheese alternative

by (Press Release) | March 22, 2011

Galaxy Nutritional Foods, a leading producer of cheese alternatives, debuted a new line of non-dairy vegan cream cheeses at the Natural Products Expo West, held March 11-13 in Los Angeles.

The line is available in Classic Plain and Chive & Garlic under the "Galaxy Nutritional Foods Veggie" and

"Galaxy Nutritional Foods Vegan" brands. Both lines are vegan, gluten free and certified kosher.

Consistent with the company's distribution strategy, "Galaxy Nutritional Foods Vegan" cream cheese alternatives will be sold in natural food and health food stores, while the "Galaxy Nutritional Foods Veggie" line will be sold in produce departments of major supermarkets throughout the United States and Canada.

"Our team is very excited to launch these great-tasting cream cheese alternatives," Rick Antonelli, chief executive officer of Galaxy Nutritional Foods, said in a mid-March press release. "We believe that Americans are demanding foods that satisfy their family's allergen and nutritional needs, and we want to help them find a great-tasting and healthy solution."

"The consumer and retailer reaction to our new recipe breakthrough has been nothing short of phenomenal," Jerry Schwartz, executive vice president of sales and marketing, added in the press release. "Vegans and vegetarians alike are amazed by the rich flavor and clean aftertaste. The product acts like real cream cheese without any dairy."

The new line was scheduled to begin shipping to stores at end of March.
