River Ranch Fresh Foods LLC, a leading processor of value-added salads and
fresh-cut produce, announced the availability of a proprietary new salad
blend that offers a robust and distinctive alternative to traditional spring mix.
Heritage Blend, a specially formulated variety of petite red and green lettuces,
features a medley of compact leaves in an array of shapes, textures and
vibrant colors. While crisp and full in appearance, Heritage Blend provides a
smooth and delicious eating experience - the perfect foundation for a
multitude of salad combinations.
"You can see that Heritage Blend has great plate appeal with its colorful hearty
bite-size leaves," Kim St George, director of marketing for River Ranch, said
in a Jan. 7 press release. “However, what you can't see is the extent of its
nutritional benefit. Heritage Blend is rich in vitamin A, vitamin C and iron, and
has a great taste for foodservice operators and retailers who are looking for
River Ranch spent more than two years developing the ideal balance of rich
flavor, color, texture and nutritional value by partnering with an international
seed company. The result was an exceptional blend that provides 25 percent
more volume on the plate and three to four additional days of shelf life than
traditional spring mix.
The product was initially introduced to customers at the Produce Marketing
Association’s Foodservice convention last July and created substantial interest
at PMA Fresh Summit in October.
Heritage Blend is now shipping in a one-pound foodservice bag and will be
available late January in a retail-size clamshell for private label and under the
“River Ranch” brand.
