Columbia Marketing International, one of Washington state's larger shippers of premium conventional and organic apples, pears and cherries, has hired Mike Nicholson to its domestic sales team.

Mr. Nicholson has accumulated a wide range of sales experience representing Washington shippers of fresh apples, pears, cherries and apricots. He has been involved with sales in both export and domestic markets, concentrating for the past several years on the domestic retail and wholesale trade.

"Mike has a well-balanced background of working with both growers and retailers to create a win-win situation in which both parties are obtaining profitable results," said Steve Castleman, domestic sales manager at CMI. “We look for Mike to drive programs forward and to continually improve the service we provide to the retail community. We are very pleased to have him on board and look forward to him being a valuable member of our team,”.

“CMI is a great company to join,” said Mr. Nicholson. “They have a strong product mix and a great management team which understands today’s market while anticipating tomorrow’s. I look forward to working with current and future customers on growing CMI category share. The CMI marketing team has set the bar very high, and I am eager to add to CMI’s success.”

In addition, CMI announced the addition of Joel Hewitt to the domestic sales team. A recent graduate from Washington State University with a degree in economics, Mr. Hewitt was set to begin his training program this month, said Mr. Castleman.
