Bland Farms expands sales staff to West Coast
by | December 06, 2010
Brian Silvas has joined Bland Farms LLC as West Coast sales manager. To meet
Bland Farms' growing demand for sweet onions in the West, Mr. Silvas will
maintain customer relationships and develop category and product growth.
Mr. Silvas brings substantial knowledge to the company through his growing,
packing and shipping experience. He has worked most recently for Peri &
Sons Farms Inc. as general manager of its Firebaugh, CA, growing and packing
facility. There, Mr. Silvas maintained grower relations and oversaw operations,
and he supervised the construction of a new packing facility.
Although he has worked in the onion industry for 21 years, this is his first role
in sales. In a Dec. 7 press release, Mr. Silvas said, "Although I’m new to the
day-to-day sales routine, I’m excited about the new venture in sales and what
I can bring to Bland Farms."
“We are excited to have a sales presence on the West Coast,” Delbert Bland,
owner of Bland Farms, said in the press release. “Brian will be an asset to our
team and to the growth of Bland Farms.”
Mr. Silvas is based in Fresno, CA.
Headquartered in Glennville, GA, Bland Farms grows, packs and ships sweet
onions year round. In order to meet an ever-increasing 52-week demand for
domestic and imported sweet onions, the firm grows and packs in Georgia,
Idaho, New York, Oregon, Texas, Mexico and Peru. The company packs its
onions in the “Bland Farms,” “Empire-Sweets” and other private labels.
