NAM contest can boost retailers' apple sales
by Gordon M. Hochberg | October 28, 2010
National Apple Month's 2010 retail display contest is in full swing, but there
is still time for retailers across the country to take advantage of the contest
and boost their apple sales.
The contest began Sept. 1 and runs until Nov. 30, and retailers can submit
entries until Nov. 30. Full details are available on-line at
www.usapple.org/industry/apple month or by calling NAM Director Kay
Rentzel at 717/432-0090.
"At this point in time, the contest is going very well," Ms. Rentzel told The
Produce News Friday, Oct. 22. “The most important thing to know is that for
those retailers that haven’t put their program together yet, there’s still plenty
of time to [build a display] and see increases in sales.”
As in past contests, there are $10,000 in cash prizes available, which winning
retailers can use as employee incentives or as charitable gifts, Ms. Rentzel
Returning sponsors for the 2010 contest are Smuckers, with its natural peanut
butter as well as its “Jif” peanut butter, including “Jif-to-Go,” a single-serving
package; and T. Marzetti, with its full line of caramel dips, including single-
serve packaging and “Apple Crisps.”
Entries should be sent to National Apple Month, 22 Triplett Court, Dillsburg,
PA 17019. Entries must be received by Jan. 1, 2011. Winners will be
announced by Jan. 31.
