ORLANDO, FL -- The 2010-11 Produce Marketing Association's board of directors took office Thursday, Oct. 14, during PMA's 2010 Fresh Summit International Convention & Exposition, here. Chairman of the Board Mike O'Brien, vice president of produce and floral at Schnuck Markets Inc. in St. Louis, is joined by three other officers and 29 directors.

"I'm honored to serve the industry in this position, and I look forward to working with my outstanding colleagues on important issues," Mr. O'Brien said in an Oct. 15 press release. "As an industry, I think we are well positioned with the answer to proper nutrition, and we can do more to make sure fresh produce is more accessible to more people. There's also a huge opportunity to bring the entire supply chain together more seamlessly. These will be my goals."

Other newly appointed PMA officers are Chairman-elect Rich Dachman, vice president of produce at Sysco Corp. in Houston; Secretary-Treasurer Tim Riley, executive vice president of The Giumarra Cos. in Los Angeles; and immediate past Chairman William Schuler, president and chief executive officer of Castellini Group of Cos. in Highland Heights, KY, as well as Vice Chairman Jan DeLyser, vice president of marketing at the California Avocado Commission in Irvine, CA; and Vice Chairman Andrew Sharp, group technical director of Fresca Group Ltd. in Paddockwood, United Kingdom. Together with President and CEO Bryan Silbermann, the officers comprise a seven-person executive committee.
