Sev-Rend introducing SecuriTag at PMA
by John Groh | September 30, 2010
Sev-Rend Corp., a Collinsville, IL-based manufacturer of high-performance
packaging solutions, will unveil a new product at the Produce Marketing
Association's Fresh Summit international convention and exposition that
addresses a variety of food-safety challenges with a single solution.
SecuriTag, a patent-pending band system that can be customized for use on
any size clamshell or hinged container, takes the place of multiple labels and
shrink banding, combining them into a single high-performance solution that
features proprietary tamper-evident tabs designed to preserve the safety of a
product, according to Pam Williams, vice president of Sev-Rend.
"Food safety was the driver on this new product," Ms. Williams said. “We met
with various processors and packers when developing SecuriTag” to make
sure their specific needs were addressed.
Tamper-evident tabs with proprietary adhesive and security cuts keep the
product safe, according to Sev-Rend literature about the product. While
designed for automatic application, special adhesive patterns on SecuriTag’s
body allow for repositioning during manual application.
SecuriTag also provides a large graphic stage for high-quality printing of
packaging content on the body, legs and reverse of the tag. This combines
multiple labels, seals and shrink band into a single product. SecuriTag body
and legs can be created in a myriad of shapes and sizes to accommodate
GTIN and UPC data.
Sev-Rend will have an automated application line to demonstrate the
SecuriTag system at its booth (No. 3589) during the PMA Fresh Summit, which
is scheduled for Oct. 15-18 in Orlando, FL.
