David J. Duda ascends to top post

Following a planned leadership succession process, the board of directors of
A. Duda & Sons Inc., a diversified land company based in Oviedo, FL, has
elected David J. Duda to succeed Joseph A. Duda as chief executive officer of
the family-owned corporation, effective Aug. 30.
David Duda, 48, who has served as president and CEO-designate of the
company since September 2009, is the first member of the fourth generation
of the Duda family to hold the top executive position.
"We congratulate David on his election following a well planned leadership
succession process," F.S. Duda, chairman of the board, said in an Aug. 10
press release. “David was selected from candidates within and outside of the
Duda company and family. His skills, experience and strong sense of the
opportunities that lay ahead for our diversified, family-owned business will
keep us well positioned for future generations.”
In his 22 years with the company, Mr. Duda has gained broad knowledge of its
diversified operations. He previously served as chief administrative officer,
responsible for the corporation's administrative services, and as chief
financial officer. He is a graduate of the University of Florida, where he earned
a bachelor of science degree in food and resource economics and a master of
business administration degree in finance.
Joseph Duda, 68, is retiring following 45 years with the corporation. He spent
his early years with the company leading the cattle division, and later served
as an executive vice president responsible for corporate services. As CEO of
the company’s real estate development subsidiary, The Viera Co., he was
instrumental in bringing to life the initial vision for the master-planned
community of Viera in Brevard County. He was elected CEO of the corporation
Joseph Duda will continue to serve in a consulting capacity for both the real
estate and cattle operations, and he was elected to serve on the corporation’s
board of directors.
