Chuck Olsen Co. introducing new pack styles at the PMA foodservice show

Jeff Olsen, vice president of The Chuck Olsen Co. Inc., headquartered in Visalia, CA, said that the company will be introducing a few new pack styles for its citrus and grape lines at the Produce Marketing Association Foodservice Conference & Exposition, scheduled for July 30 to Aug. 1 in Monterey, CA.

The company will be exhibiting at expo booth No. 6.

"We will also be promoting our consolidation services at the exposition," Mr. Olsen told The Produce News. “We do a lot of consolidating in the Salinas Valley. We also have a facility in Phoenix, Arizona, and we operate seasonally from both areas. Our consolidation services enable us to bring fruits and vegetables together to provide a one-stop, one-dock service to our customers.”

The company is a fourth-generation grower, packer and shipper. It was founded in 1910 in the San Joaquin Valley. It handles a full line of citrus, including Navel oranges, lemons, Valencia oranges, clementines, grapefruit and limes on a year-round basis. It also handles melons, a year-round supply of table grapes, a full line of tree fruits and a wide variety of fresh vegetables.

“Our citrus line is produced primarily in California, which enjoys year-round production,” said Mr. Olsen. “But we also bring some lemons in from Chile in the summer months. California Navel oranges run from November to the end of June. Valencia oranges start in May and run through about the end of October.”

The foodservice sector represents about 40 percent of the company's business. It distributes across the United States, into Canada and Mexico, and it exports to offshore countries in Asia.

For retail customers, the Chuck Olsen Co. uses “Stagecoach,” “Wagon Train” and “Tulare Chief” labels.
