Oro Loma Ranch, a grower-packer-shipper of premium pomegranates and arils, has formed a new sales company called Ruby Fresh.

With about 4,000 acres of pomegranates, Ruby Fresh is one of the larger pomegranate shippers in the United States. The company, a subsidiary of Oro Loma Ranch, will handle sales of arils and fresh pomegranates, which will be marketed under the "Ruby Fresh" label.

“We're very excited about our company,” John Early, export manager for Ruby Fresh, said in a Sept. 22 press release. “In addition to our domestic program, we source Chilean fruit and work with some of the top names in Chile to provide our customers with year-round supplies of both fresh pomegranates and arils.”

Ruby Fresh offers arils in five- and eight-ounce containers as well as a consumer pack. The arils will be available year round.

Ruby Fresh also announced the hiring of George Neves to handle domestic sales. Mr. Neves has more than 15 years of experience in pomegranates and other commodities, gained mostly while working at Ito Packing.

Ruby Fresh just finished a successful Chilean season and is preparing for its California deal, and Mr. Neves expects the Wonderful pomegranate deal to be a little later than normal. “We will probably start around October 12 or so,” he said.

The arils will be loading out of the company’s facility in Mendota, CA, while fresh pomegranates will be loading in Dinuba, CA. Both Messrs. Neves and Early will be working on site in the Dinuba location.
