Hollandia Produce celebrates 40 years

CARPINTERIA, CA -- Founders Art and Magda Overgaag have kept a family tradition of greenhouse growing alive and prospering for 40 years with innovation, adaptability and a commitment to quality.

Over the years it has achieved recognition as a best-of-class provider in the fields of floriculture, horticulture and-state-of-the-art greenhouse agriculture, according to an April 13 press release. Hollandia Flowers, as it was originally known, and today's Hollandia Produce LLC have served florist, home and garden centers, supermarkets, special food retailers, foodservice companies and wholesale produce purveyors across North America since 1970.

Crops grown over the 40 years have been cut flowers originally specializing in chrysanthemums and gypsophila, Blooming and foliage plants from fuchsias to poinsettias, and hot house vegetables like cucumbers, cluster tomatoes, living lettuces, upland cress and arugula.

Today Hollandia Produce's innovative "Live Gourmet" brand living lettuces and leafy greens that are harvested with their roots intact to preserve freshness are distributed in 45 states and Canada.

In a special commemorative celebration, Chief Executive Officer Pete Overgaag thanked his parents for their contributions, hard work and selection of the farm's location and presented them with a digital pictorial collage of family and business related photos from over the past 40 years.
