Andrea Astrachan of Ahold USA was elected chairman of the Produce for
Better Health Foundation's board of trustees at its 2010 annual meeting April
8-10 in Half Moon Bay, CA. Ms. Astrachan most recently served as vice
chairman of the foundation.
The board of trustees recognized the service of outgoing 2009 Chairman Paul
Klutes of C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc. Mr. Klutes will remain on the
executive committee as immediate past chairman.
Roger Pepperl of Stemilt Growers Inc. was elected vice chairman, and Paul
Palmby of Seneca Foods Corp. was elected secretary-treasurer.
Marty Ordman of Dole Food Co. Inc. was elected chairman of the foundation's
consumer marketing and communications committee. Mac Riggan of Chelan
Fresh Marketing assumes chairmanship of the foundation's donor marketing
and outreach committee.
In addition to officers and committee chairmen, the following people were
elected to serve as at-large members of PBH's executive committee: Rick
Bruno of Sun-Maid Growers of California, Gaines Chamberlain of Food Lion
Stores Inc., Dennis Christou of Del Monte Fresh Produce N.A. Inc., Lori Miller
of McDonald's Corp., Heather Mizrahi of the Walt Disney Co., Jim Sarcletti of
Save-A-Lot Food Stores and Suzanne Wolter of Rainier Fruit Co.
Outgoing executive committee members Terry Humfeld of the Produce
Marketing Association, Kim Kirchherr of Jewel-Osco/Supervalu, Mark Munger
of Andrew & Williamson Fresh Produce, Tom Stenzel of United Fresh Produce
Association and Gregg Storey of Bayer CropScience were thanked for their
service on the committee.
Outgoing committee chairmen for 2009 were also recognized for their
contributions: Kari Bretschger of Integrated MarketingWorks as past consumer
marketing and communications committee chairman; Gaines Chamberlain of
Food Lion Stores Inc. as past channel marketing sub-committee chairman;
Matt Middleton of Ventura Foods as past donor marketing and outreach
committee chairman; and Kacie Vieth of FoodSource as past dinner and
auction committee chairman.
