Continued growth at Ippolito International LP has created the need to add two additional salespeople to its team, a company official told The Produce News.

Produce veteran Bill Vargas and newcomer Brittany Corda recently joined the Ippolito sales team, according to Butch Corda, the firm's general manager.

"Bill joined the sales team approximately two months ago," he said March 24. "I had the good fortune of having Bill as one of my salesman at a previous produce company for close to 10 years, and I consider myself very fortunate to have a second opportunity to have a man of his experience and talents again."

Mr. Corda said that Mr. Vargas brings close to 25 years of sales experience on the shipping side of the trade with him to Ippolito International.

"He has managed various commodities during his career and many long-term relationships with various customers," Mr. Corda said. "Bill is very excited about the opportunity and he likes to tell his customers that working at Ippolito International feels like he has come home. Ippolito International is a great fit for Bill Vargas, and Bill is a great fit for Ippolito International."

Mr. Corda said that Mr. Vargas will manage broccoli and celery for the Salinas, CA-based firm.

The firm's second addition is Brittany Corda, a recent graduate of Arizona State University and the daughter of Mr. Corda.

"Brittany had interned the last couple of summers with us, and she will work in sales," Mr. Corda said, noting that she will also be working on outside purchased produce and will be utilizing her degree in nutrition on special projects.

"We wanted someone with a degree in nutrition to be qualified to work on special projects to tie into the wide array of fresh vegetables we grow, pack and sell," he said.

"These two are great additions to the hard-working sales staff that already exists," he said. "We expect exciting things from the entire group."
