Relief campaign announced for Chilean schools
by Tad Thompson | April 21, 2010
A produce industry program is underway to help rebuild schools damaged in
the devastating earthquake that struck the principal Chilean fruit growing
regions Feb. 27.
The board of the Chilean Exporters Association, based in Santiago, Chile,
announced April 16 that it had selected two agricultural schools that
sustained substantial damage for the initial repair effort. The institutions are
the Escuela Agrícola Cristo Obrero in Graneros, which is south of Santiago,
and Escuela Agrícola San Vicente de Paul, located in Chile's Coltauco area.
In a mid-April press release, ASOEX invited fresh fruit industry colleagues
interested in helping to rebuild these schools to send donations to a bank
account specifically set up for this purpose. The following is the account
information for foreign contributions:
Bank: Banco Santander No. 510086141
Holder: Asociación de Exportadores de Chile, A. G.
National Tax ID (RUT): 82.475.900-6
For proper contribution follow-up and auditing, the association encourages
donors to send a copy of the corresponding deposit slip to ASOEX at
Independent third-party auditor Price Waterhouse Coopers will audit all
contributions paid into the account.
