Rogers Graphics, an advertising and website design firm specializing in the produce and floral industries, is celebrating its 30th anniversary in business.

"Through the years, we have been very fortunate to have maintained loyal business relationships with many fine companies," said Richard Rogers, co-owner of the company with his wife, Susan. "The world of advertising can be fickle, so I am pleased we have done consistently well."

Mr. Rogers, a native Floridian, earned a degree in mass communications from Florida State University in 1970. He subsequently designed magazines for a Denver creative agency, gained valuable experience in printing sales in Miami and started his own graphic-design company there in 1980.

One of the company's first freelance jobs was designing and printing recipe pads for the Florida Lime Committee and the Florida Avocado Committee in Homestead, FL. One key member of those organizations, J.R. Brooks & Son Inc., asked Mr. Rogers to design marketing materials for the company. "It was exciting and challenging to help educate consumers and produce buyers about the many unknown exotic fruits and vegetables Brooks offered along with the familiar limes, avocados and mangos," Mr. Rogers recalled. Today the company is named Brooks Tropicals Inc., and it is well known for its healthy "SlimCado" brand avocados, Caribbean Red papayas and star fruit.

Over the years, Rogers Graphics has expanded its services from design and printing to include advertising, corporate identity, point-of-purchase, labeling, web sites, illustration, photography and book design.

Today, Mr. Rogers serves as creative director, graphic designer and copywriter, while Ms. Rogers collaborates with copywriting and managing the business. Ms. Rogers earned a bachelor's degree in education from Penn State University in 1967 and a master?s degree in educational communications from the University of Hawaii in 1968. She worked extensively in administration and public relations following a career in teaching and educational television production.

Rogers Graphics is located on Vashon Island near Seattle and it serves clients in Florida, New Jersey, California, Washington, Oregon, Virginia, Texas and New Zealand. "Telecommuting has made it possible for us to create an ideal situation for ourselves both personally and professionally," said Ms. Rogers. "We can enjoy where we live and still provide the quality of service our customers deserve."

Rogers Graphics' clients have included the L&M Companies, Southern Specialties, C-Brand Tropicals, Fresh King, Stemilt Growers, Florida Lime Committee, Florida Avocado Committee, Brooks Tropicals Inc., Florida Tomato Committee, Taylor & Fulton Inc., North Florida Tomatoes, Couture Farms, Beall's Roses, Jackson & Perkins Roses, Pacific Flower Shippers, Means Nursery Inc., theproducenews.com and the International Fresh-Cut Produce Association.
