Tanimura & Antle hosted its fifth annual 20-year Employee Club celebration Aug. 23 at the private home of Mike and Cass Antle in Corral de Tierra, CA. This annual event honors employees who have served 20 and 25 years. Ten new members were inducted into the 20-Year Club and 12 employees were honored for their 25 years of service.

"Recognizing that 85 percent of the company's assets consist of knowledge, reputation and employee talent, we realize that we would not be where we are today if not for the contributions and dedication of our employees, especially the members of the 20-year Club," Mike Antle, executive vice president of harvest operations for T&A, said in a Sept. 8 press release.

Employees shared memories of their employment experience and named an individual at Tanimura & Antle who was most influential in their career advancement. The 20-year Club members come from a variety of company departments including human resources, sales, appointments, farming, harvest and logistics. Many started as entry-level employees and advanced through the ranks as opportunities were presented.

Tanimura & Antle counts its employees as one of its stronger competitive advantages in the produce industry. According to the U.S. Labor Department, only 27 percent of the national work force have worked 10 or more years with their current employer, and that the median number of years with the current employer is only 4.1 years.

Carmen Ponce, vice president of human resources, commented, It was 27 years ago that we started with 200 employees and now we have 119 members of our team who have served our company 20 plus years. We are very proud of the longevity that we have within our work force.
