Grower-Shipper Association holds annual golf tournament and gala

The Grower-Shipper Association of Central California in Salinas, CA, held its 71st annual golf tournament, fashion show and dinner-dance June 25-27.

This event raises funds for the Grower-Shipper Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps support local educational, training, scholarship and leadership programs, community outreach, and philanthropic endeavors.

Golf tournament events were held Thursday, June 25, at Corral de Tierra Golf & Country Club and continued over three days ending Saturday, June 27, with a post-tournament brunch and awards ceremony.

The annual fashion show was held Friday, June 26, at Carmel Valley Ranch. Men and women from the local agricultural industry modeled fashions by Banana Republic, Bliss Boutique, Charlotte Grace Fashion-Lounge, Epiphany- Divine Bridal Boutique and Pamplemousse Boutique.

The grand finale dinner-dance event, affectionately titled the "Produce Prom" by the association's board of directors, was held Saturday, June 27, at Carmel Valley Ranch.

The annual gala included the presentation of the E.E. (Gene) Harden Award for lifetime achievement, which was presented to Jim Manassero for his more than 31 years of work with D'Arrigo Bros. of California and his many contributions to agriculture including leadership roles with the California Leafy Greens Lettuce Research Board, the Monterey County Agricultural Advisory Committee, the Salinas River Channel Coalition and the Grower- Shipper Association of Central California. Guests enjoyed a plated dinner and dancing with music by the band Vintage.
