KINGSVILLE, ON -- Mastronardi Produce has announced that former Tanimura & Antle President Ken Silveira has joined the company as president of Mastronardi Produce -- West LLC. With Mr. Silveira joining the company, Mastronardi also announces the opening of a 20,000-square-foot warehouse in Salinas, CA, to begin servicing the West Coast in March.
"This is a great opportunity for our company with Ken partnering with us on our newest division, Mastronardi Produce -- West LLC," Paul Mastronardi, executive vice president, said in a Feb. 19 press release. With facilities already located in Romulus, MI, Lakeland, FL, Maroa, IL, Brush, CO, and corporate headquarters in Kingsville, Ontario, the addition of the facility in Salinas allows Mastronardi to increase distribution efficiencies throughout the West Coast.
"For years, customers have been asking for our 'Sunset' brand on the West Coast; now we can do it with the same quality of service we provide in the East," Mr. Mastronardi added.
"I first met Paul over three years ago and was instantly impressed with the Mastronardi operation and with Paul's passion and knowledge for the business," Mr. Silveira said in the release. It is really exciting to start something from scratch on the West Coast and to be able to bring the great Mastronardi quality and consistency to the West on an everyday basis."
Mr. Silveira brings a wealth of industry experience to Mastronardi after spending the last 19 years at Tanimura & Antle, most recently as president and chief operating officer. Known as a results-driven individual, Mr. Silveira will guide the growth of West Coast operations for Mastronardi under its newly formed division, Mastronardi West. To assist Mr. Silveira with sales development, Mastronardi has also added 20-year industry veteran Laurie Gray, who worked most recently for Vancouver, BC-based Greenhouse Gourmet.
